Introducing the latest addition to the Kona Bhutan Bike Team - Enduro and Street Rider, Tandin "No Fear" Wang Ghaley.
Tandin hails from Thimpu and is still at school but that hasn’t stopped him racking up countless medals already.
He recently won the local Enduro Championship, placed 5th Junior in the Asian Enduro Series Nepal 2018, was 3rd in the Dantak Open Mountain Bike Race 2018 and came a very respectable 5th Junior in the last Dragon's Fury race.
Tandin is equally at home performing street trials around the capital or tearing down gnarly singletrack deep in the mountains of his Himalayan home. For local riders he recommends the flowy Wangditse trail above Thimpu but his favourite place to rip is the bike park around Limbukha in Punakha.
Along with all Bhutan’s mountain bikers, our new team member is praying that the Kingdom opens up in time for the Asian Enduro Series Event to go ahead in Punakha this December as he would love to compete on home soil, plus he will join the Kona Team for the Tour of the Dragon Race this September.
As a youngster Tandin was a keen footballer but the freedom and fun of biking out in the wilderness and the chance to represent his country attracted him to MTB. His mates all say he is fearless and is up for anything but luckily he has only suffered one bad injury so far – a broken leg.
Tandin Ghaley rides a Kona Process 153 27.5 for its stability, aggressive geometry, pedaling efficiency, and ability to chew up descents like a mini downhill bike.
Look out for Tandin and his “green machine” out on the trail and see if you can keep up with him!
